SIMON BLAKE IS A COLLAGE ARTIST & MIXED-MEDIA FILMMAKER.

My career has taken a series of diversions and paths over the past 25 years. I studied graphic design, illustration and mixed-media film in England. I taught a children’s London summer camp of 35mm 'scratch' animation, created film titles for numerous Hollywood and British screen feature films with English film title designer Richard Morrison and had a brief stint at the BBC working with the Emmy award winning graphic/motion designer Antony Buonomo on 'Comic Relief' and several other tv shows. I worked with mixed-media directors Osbert Parker and Charlie Watson in London and Los Angeles on numerous commercials and shorts. In the mid nineties I worked on a mixed-media film project with the director Rupert Wainwright and one of my favourite writers - surrealist South African Barry Yourgrau on his wonderful book “The Sadness of Sex”, and directed one of the films vignettes “Domestic Intelligence.” I then worked for a number of film production companies on the south, east and west coasts directing commercials and mixed media projects for numerous Fortune 500 companies, including Microsoft, Coca-Cola, Crystal Hot Sauce, Sony, Samsung, Hewlett Packard, AT&T, Chase Bank, Levi Strauss & Co., United Airlines, The Jazz and Heritage Festival, American Cancer Society, Intel, Crystal Hot Sauce, Entergy, Nestlé, Burger King, Audubon Zoo, Charles Schwab, Maine State Lottery, Heineken, Hershey, Barnes and Noble, Disney, Crayola, Pepperidge Farm, CenturyLink, New York Lottery and many others. My work has been shown at Sundance, Cartoons on the Bay, Amalfi, Italy, has garnered two AICP awards and is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art. My other life has included working numerous jobs on farms as a soil sampler for a fertilizer company, perfecting the art of the perfect roast chicken, car-auto detailing, studying at the The Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London and singing professionally as a counter tenor in England in The choir of the Cathedral and Abbey Church of St Alban under Dr. Barry Rose and at St. Thomas Church, Fifth Avenue NYC under Gerre Hancock and John Scott. Since then my work has diversified into graphic design, branding and collage work. My work is in private collections including the USA, Australia and Europe. For over 35 years I have created collage work and graphic art.
