“The man who builds a factory builds a temple, that the man who works there worships there, and to each is due, not scorn and blame, but reverence and praise.” Calvin Coolidge
An original collage by Simon Blake made from clippings from a series of books titled 'La Nature' published in France, a French language magazine aimed at the popularization of science established in 1873 by French scientist and adventurer Gaston Tissandier. The magazine also received an enormous amount of time, effort, and contributions from his brother, Albert Tissandier.
Each original piece is made up of numerous found images taken from the same source material, which is then precisely hand cut with carbon scissors and medical grade scalpel blades and reglued to create a new narrative based on the elements gathered together.
Original collage 8.5”x11.6”
Price includes framing, museum UV glass and 4" 8-ply archival mat board.
